Working in the nursery industry for as long as I have, I've seen my share of bad gardeners and designers. They're easy to spot. They walk in to the nursery, buy whatever looks interesting or is in full bloom, ask a few novice questions, then speed on their way.

On their way to ruin someone's landscaping.

Here's an example:

At first glance this may seem like a decent garden design. The plants appear to be decently spaced, and there's a nice combination of size, texture and form. To the untrained eye of course. What a good designer will see is Horsetail in the ground... a very fast growing plant that spreads and nearly impossible to erradicate. I see shade groundcovers facing the western sun next to concrete.

Here's the same garden six months later.

This is someone front property. Note the dying palm trees. Note the horsetail (the skinny upright plant) poking up through all other foilage. Note the rampant growth of some plants, while others are dead. Some of the plants will spread to over 10 feet in the next year, in a space no more than 5 feet across. This poor homeowner will have to spend quite a lot of money to remove the horsetail, and will no doubt have an ugly yard as it is all dug up.

ALD is the difference. We will protect you from bad landscaping.
